For anyone with IBS-c

I was speaking with my friend about my IBS-D and she told me about her mom. Everyday since her kids were born( about 45 years ago)she had constipation. She treated it with exlax. EVERYDAY!! This was the only way she could go. after 40 years or so she developed an enlarged liver.
Anyway...in order to help her constipation she drinks senna tea everyday and has not used xlax since. She now has normal BM.
Don't know if this could help anyone but it might be worth a shot!
I have IBS-D so I haven't tried this idea.

Thank you for the idea, however, I would not advise anyone with IBS-C to drink senna tea! Just because it's natural it doesn't mean it safe! It is just another form of laxative and it acts the same way as the chemical pills by irritating the bowel and causing it to contract. A person with IBS is very likely to get more pain and bloating from it. If a laxative has to be used, there are much gentler alternatives such as miralax or milk of magnesia.

Thanks for posting that. I'd never heard of senna tea before.
