Has anyone tried raw milk? Just wondering if those with IBS can tolerate it. It is suppose to be much better for you.

The USDA warns against the consumption of raw milk

"In summary, since raw milk may contain human pathogens, the consumption of raw milk products increases the risk of gastrointestinal illness due to the likelihood that it may contain infective doses of human pathogens. The only method proven to be reliable in reducing the level of human pathogens in milk and milk products is by those milk products being produced and processed under sanitary conditions and subsequently being properly pasteurized. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration; therefore, strongly advises against the consumption of raw milk. "

Raw milk and pasteurized milk essentially contain the same ingredients minus harmful bacteria and will not be better tolerated by IBS suffers. In fact it might cause more GI distress due to the pathogens it might contain.

I would get it straight from the farm like when I was a kid. A lot of people now are sneaking and buying raw milk even though it isn't FDA approved. However it isn't safe for IBS. Goat and sheep milk aren't any better either and lactose free is still a no no as well.

IBS-A for 20 years with terrible bloating and gas. On the diet since April 2004. Remember this from Heather's information pages:
"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!
