Earlier this week I buckled into a craving for a small - okay, not so small - salad for lunch. Thought it'd be safe because I would skip the tomato, I had a dinner roll with it and I'd been really stable for a couple of weeks. WRONG! Cramps started almost immediately, diarrhea followed shortly thereafter. Took Immodium, had a gentle pasta dinner and apple sauce for dessert, took some Citrucel, and was feeling better (or so I thought) by morning. (Somehow completely forgot that I had woken up at 4 a.m. with cramps and diarrhea.) Then for lunch today I had a grilled chicken sandwich. Decided not to pull off the bacon and cheese. Dumb, dumb, dumb.

By the time I headed home, even after two Immodiums and a mug of fennel tea, I was panicking that I wouldn't be able to make it to my car without having an accident. My sphincter was spasming so badly it was hard to drive. Did make it home, had a small bowl of white rice and a hot bath to soothe the spasms and reflect on how I'd ended up this way.

Feeling a little better now, physically, but I'm really kicking myself. When will I ever learn?

So, I've promised to be really, really good to myself. And start bringing a lunch to work instead of buying one!

Sigh.

I know how you feel. It's so hard to keep denying yourself. But now you have learned your lesson the hard wway. It's maddening that the so-called doctors can't even help us.

I am going to a tea on May 17th and found out almost everything that is being set up for this has milk in it. So I was told I have to order off the lunch menu. It's just too much!
