Hello. I am new here. I have a few Qs about my IBS and gastric bypass surgery. Where do I post those to ask? Thank you.

OK, well, I have been diagnosed with IBS after them telling me I have lactose intolerance as well. I had a gastric bypass in June 2005 (went from 278 to 125, now at 175) and have had serious chronic diarrhea ever since. They also removed my gall bladder. I went to 2 gastroenterologists, who both quit me when they found nothing wrong. I've tried numerous medications, including tranquilizers and gastric meds. I also tried Heathers peppermint stuff and Acacia powder. Nothing is working. I'm sick and tired of having 4 bouts of serious dumping after every single meal for the past 3 years! The only thing that keep me from having diarrhea is wine, so now unfortunately, I have become an alcoholic who has been to rehab twice. In rehab, they decided I had colitis. While there, they put me on some strong antibiotics that stopped the symptoms for 3 days, but after stopping the meds, the diarrhea is back. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm at my wits end at this point!!! Thank you.

Have you tried Questran? It's spelled something close to that. It's given to people who suffer from "dumping" syndrome after gallbladder removal.

Please explain to me who said wine will stop IBS-D or Dumping. I was told it would trigger it. I beleive its the sulfites in the wine that would do it. I would love to hear. Thanks

No one actually told me that. In fact, they said what you did -- that it would trigger it. However, I have found personally that it stops the diarrhea. I don't know if there is an ingredient that does it, or if it just relaxes my system.

Yes, I have. Maybe I could try it again. I used it for a few months, three times a day.
