Hey Gang,

I'm brand new to this board and th IBS group. I have officially been diagnosed with IBS by my GI doctor. This looks like a great forum for IBS patients to learn and exchange ideas.

If you don't mind, I want to list a few of the things I have going on, and see if others have had similar experiences and the fixes / solutions. I learned of this place through a client of mine, who had nearly the same experiences and symptoms. Funny how that works.

As well, I have diet questions if anyone can help.

The biggest problem I have is: immediately after eating anything - 1 potato chip or a 5 course meal I get severe, shooting back pains. At times, literally debilitating, to the point where I can't even stand up. After a bowel movement, 90% of the pain would go away, but now the pain persists even after a bowel movement.

I have had every MRI, x-ray, scan of my abdomen, back, midsection, test for kidney stones, pancreatic stones, you name , I have had it. No physical problems are detected, hence my doctors keep coming back to the GI / IBS as the cause of this pain. It started with severe bloating, but now it's more back pain.

Yesterday, I started eating healthier, and the immediate pain is almost all gone. I bought the diet kit # 2 from heather, and I'm trying to eat as healthy as possible, as the pain became untolerable.

I did review the do's & don'ts of eating, the menu, etc.

This will clearly be the toughest adjustment I have ever had to make.

When out and about, instead of fast food, (especially later at night when many of the healthier places are closed) what types of foods / places have you all gone to for a meal?

Any help is appreciated.

Steve / AZ

Generally, I can safely eat a veggie sub - no cheese - at Subway or Quiznos. Our Subways are open late so it helps. In a pinch I pick up some Tostitos and a bottle of Life water. Otherwise I'll pick up a bagel and peppermint tea or some mixed green and white rice at the Chinese place. There are a lot of choices out there, just choose wisely.

I should note, I'm stable though!

Good luck!

Hi Steve and welcome!

I'm glad to hear you're already feeling much better. To your question - a while ago I was asking around here what to eat for fast food. Check out this thread .

Zara,

Thx for the tips and link. I love Wendy's, but now instead of a # 6 with Fries and a coke, it will have to be grilled chicken, baked potato and water, oh well. Thx!
