Just wanted to share a positive experience I had that would normally cause me much stress and attacks...but it went so well with all the help from this site. If anyone has read any other posts from me you may know this but if not, I'm 17 years old and I'm a dancer and during March and around that time is the time when we have alot of competitions and conventions, conventions are basically 2 days long of class from proffesionals. Anyway, just imagine this scenario...when I thought about it before going I thought it would be horrible. One of the competition/conventions was in Pittsburgh, PA and I was going to be driving up with my teacher and and staying in a room with her and four other people...yess thats 6 people sleeping in a hotel room with 2 double bed and one bathroom. It gets better...we drive up friday night and have classes (classes are in hotel ballrooms) from about 6-11 PM, after we end up staying up until around 2AM and we have to wake up at about 6:30AM. Can you say lack of sleep! Well class then starts at 7:45AM and lasts until around 3:30PM with one lunch break. Then, the competition starts at 4PM and doesn't end until around 10:30 pm. And once again we don't go to sleep until very late, mainly because we are so slap happy from dancing all day, and 3 people in a double bed is not to comfy. Then, class starts around the same time the next morning and goes until about 4.
Basically, I'm just writing this to say that what could have been a potentially bad situation for my IBS, with lots of stress, lack of sleep, nervousness from competing and auditioning, and strange eating patterns, turned out to be a wonderful time with absolutely no problems. Granted, I did live off of bananas, peanut butter sandwhiches, and pretzels that I brought and made sure to take fiber often as well as peppermint capsules. I also made sure that I snacked on SF inbetween class. But my point was just to say that when months ago I thought it would be impossible to drive with other people and stay in hotel room with 6 people and one bathroom...it was more than possible w/ the help of this site!

-sorry for the poor grammar, I was typing fast

Glad to hear you made it through so well!

I was you age when I was diagnosed with ibs. It is a rough time to go through as a teen. I like seeing your optimism. Keep it up!!

Good for you!
Even "just" traveling with IBS can be so stressful so it could have gone very bad since you had to practice and perform on top of that ! Well done .
I started having symptoms when I was your age (I'm 28 now). I wish back then I knew I could limit my symptoms with a diet

Congratulations Kristi and thanks for sharing such a positive story! Just like you, I carry my own snacks. I used to do this for Weight Watchers purposes but now with IBS it's really important. Wishing you lots more fun road trips!
