I have seen a few of you mention, including myself that intercourse can be painful. Even though this could be caused by the IBS, my doc wants to test for emdometriosis in a couple of months from now. Have any of you been tested for this? It could be a possiblity.

I actually had surgery for endometriosis in 1995. I don't remember them actually having a 'test' for it...except the symptoms. I DID have pain during intercourse, bowel movements, even sneezing or bending my body at times!! I also had pain during my annual exam.
As always, if you don't feel comfortable about this, see another doctor. I know its a pain in the butt to go to another doctor, set up the appointment, pay a co-pay, etc., but not to mention going through 3 gastroenterologists for my IBS, I went through 3 gyno's to find my endometriosis and treat it!

How did they treat your endo? Actually the only true test for it is making a small incision and put a scope through you, it doesnt show up on ultrasounds or pelvic exams.

I had laproscopy (I think that is what it is called/and the way its spelled). They cut right below my belly button and then put another instrument up another way ( ) and took out all of the endometriosis places. I also stayed on the pill for over a year without having a period (having a period GREATLY increased my pain - I would double over with pain just by using a tampon). I'm great in that area now!! I am on Seasonale to keep my periods now, and try to help keep my endo away!
