So I've been on the diet for a few weeks now and things seem to be going ok. My C has improved a little bit but I think I need to incorporate more IF in my diet at this point. I'm weary of eating bran b/c many bran cereals/bars etc have milk ingredients in them. I would like to stay away from dairy as much as possible. They do have bran flakes that are 100% Bran. I was thinking about adding a little of this to my rice cereal in the morning. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I put about 1 tbs of wheat bran cereal in my Rice Krispies every morning. This is the non-name, Safeway store brand. It's not bran flakes but actual bran cereal (they look like little sticks). There is no dairy in them. I seem to do just fine with them! Good luck!
-------------------- IBS-A since age 12, and fructose sensitive; with the exception of my pregnancy, have been following Heather's diet since Nov. 19, 2007.
Taking 12g of Acacia per day. Relatively stable since March 2008!

Erilyn, that is a really good idea on mixing the cereal. You know, before I had IBS I routinely threw 1/2 cup of Fiber One in my oatmeal. I don't think I'd do 1/2 cup now but a little to start. Thanks for the idea!

Thanks for the advice! Do you really think a tablespoon is enough? Maybe I should use that my starting point and work my way up to more?

Doesn't this cereal contain artificial sweeteners?

I would start out low and go from there. Back before I was officially doing the IBS diet, I would measure out 1/4 cup of bran cereal and then top it up with Rice Krispies to make 1 cup. I think it bothered me. So now I stick with the tablespoon or so.
