Has any one heard of aloe vera gel? I went to a helath food store today and was talking to the lady about my condition. She recommmended this aloe vera gel, I think it it is like a drink, she said it would be good for my stomach. Has any one ever used this?

It is not recommended at all - in fact it sounds downright nasty. Syl posted an article about it before in this thread.
-------------------- IBS-A since age 12, and fructose sensitive; with the exception of my pregnancy, have been following Heather's diet since Nov. 19, 2007.
Taking 12g of Acacia per day. Relatively stable since March 2008!

I think actually Heather has a warning about it on the site somewhere or in her newsletter archives. It is great for skin but hazardous to guts.
-------------------- IBS-A for 20 years with terrible bloating and gas. On the diet since April 2004. Remember this from Heather's information pages:
"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!

Aloe Vera is one of those weird, enigmatic products that some people recommend for IBS, while others say it's poison for IBS. I can't figure it out, so out of caution I avoid it.
-------------------- IBS-C, lots of spasm and trapped gas.
