i know there have been several threads posted about this.. but i cannot seem to find the answers to a couple of questions that i have..

is honey or real maple syrup ok in SMALL amounts?
what are the names of the sugars that are ok?
i remember reading something about adding glucose syrup to something that has fructose? maybe? whats can someone tell me more about glucose syrup?

i fell of my diet really bad when i went on vacation.. i ate everything and i would be fine for two days.. but i wouldn't be able to go to the bathroom and then i'd get hit with really bad gas and hours later d and then i would be fine again.. i am trying to get back into the swing of things..

i am fine when i eat:
rice
real oatmeal
meat
banana
potato

but as one could imagine that gets old really fast.. any tips on foods i can add?

Check Figure 2 in the second article in this message. The left hand side of the table has a list of unfavourable foods and the right hand side favourable foods. Honey is on the left hand side. Fancy maple syrup has less fructose than glucose while the lower grades can have more fructose than glucose.

Other problem sugars are sorbitol, manitol, isomalt and xylitol. These are sugar alcohols frequently used as sweetners. Also, lactose if you are lactose intolerant.

I find that adding glucose (corn sugar or dextrose available from HFCS) can help offset the excess fructose in things like tomato paste. It is something you will have to experiment with to figure out how much to add or if it works for you.

I buy glucose in powder from from HFS. It is frequently sold under the name of corn sugar or dextrose. It costs about $3.00/kg here.

Yes - Figure 2 in that pdf document is has some value information. I use it as a guideline regularly. I just tried and I had no difficulty opening it.

In "Clinical Ramifications of Malabsorption of Fructose" they mention high DP fructans and say such as rye, but they do not have a table for it, only low dp (table 6). Now if you really wanted pineapple for example, which is a no-no according to table 6 or a lentils which i think is a non no (table 7) could you pop some glucose and eat them?

There is a better table on page 1635 in the article which you have not been able to open. It give the fructan content of a variety of foods. The objective with fructans is to keep your consumption around 0.5 grams/serving which is about 1 slice of bread.

The glucose rule does not apply to fructans. It only applies to free fructose in things like fruits, juices and sauces.

Table 7 is not talking about fructose or fructans. It is talking about raffinose and other galacto-oligosaccharides. For these sugars you can take beano.
