If your cramps are IBS related then they are being caused by triggers--that can be food, stress, etc. You need to post what you are eating (for last two days). That is the only way any of us can assist you.

Agreed - Syl asked you to post that too. Put them up here and maybe someone can get to the bottom of your cramps....

ok well i did post it up on my other message but not sure why its not up there !!

Ok well for brekkie im having toast with dairy free spread and marmite
Lunch is normally a bread roll with marmite or turkey or mackeral in it.
For tea i have had in the last few days on night = plain boile rice nothing else - night before that was cottage pie made with turkey mince and wheat free gluten free and dairy free gravy (did have some veg in it but it was cut down so much into tiny pieces) and the other night i had a veg pot from marks and spencers (lots of tiny cut veg in a pot with small amoutn of herb butter) and some tinned salmon - now i can see that the veg may have hurt but i was getting the cramps before that and i had the veg to try and bring out the wind if it was trapped wind (if that makes sense).

They are like period pains these cramps (but im nowhere near due) they sometimes go over to the right and sometimes over to the left !!

When I first started the diet I still experienced the trapped gas and bouts of painful and embarrassing gas--sometimes with D and sometimes just the gas. I found that what was causing it was ingredients in prepared foods I was eating. Sometimes it was preservatives, sometimes artificial flavoring or sweetener, sometimes "hidden" fat and sometimes just the food itself. I had to start a basic diet of just plain rice and chicken that I prepared by either grilling, baking or poaching. I ate cream of rice for breakfast, rice & chicken for lunch and supper with fresh baked french or sourdough bread (many store brands of bread have lactose, high fructose corn syrup and whole grains). Since you are in the UK and I am in the US I don't know what ingredients are in your food but I found that I didn't get relief from the cramps and gas until I stopped all food other than stated above. I drank ONLY water and small amount of peppermint and fennel tea. Nothing else. It takes a few weeks for the gut to "calm" down and the spasms to stop that cause the problem. After that happens you can slowly add veggies and other foods one at a time every other day so you can determine what you can have and what you can't. For instance my best veg is green beans (not on the good list either but it works for me). I can also tolerate carrots and spinach and even asparagus. However, I cannot have tomatoes except in very small quantity. Don't forget your fiber supplement and a probiotic. I take 1 tsp of acacia twice daily with my herbal tea. I used to take Align probiotic but since I have stabilized I no longer take it. Good luck to you.

I think i am going to have to go back to basics for a while i cant belive i was stable for so many years after finding heather diet and i didnt come on the boards because my life was just so full of eevry day life because i was able to !! im baffled as to what set me off again - maybe i got too cocky and had something i shouldnt have had !! i suppose it only takes something little to set us off again and it doesnt help with my anxiety either. Im glad your all here - your all stars xx

If I eat something I shouldn't, I can have on and off cramping, constipation, and gas for days. It takes a little while to get back to normal.

The thing that has helped me the most in addition to the diet is probiotics. Which have you tried? I take Digestive Advantage for IBS (the capsules, not chewable). Since I started taking them, my symptoms have been significantly reduced, more so than the diet alone.

Going back to basics for a while sounds like a good idea (the Break the Cycle diet). Maybe try that for a few days to see if your system calms down? Then you can slowly introduce other foods.

I love the Digestive Advantage!!! I've been taking it for a week now and it really is amazing how some of my symptoms have subsided!!! I've noticed a big difference with gas - it doesn't seem to help with bloating though....but if that's the worst of it bloating I can live with
