Has anyone else noticed that papayas are great for the digestive system? I've been drinking a glass of watered down papaya puree once a day after lunch and have noticed a tremendous improvement. I also noticed that when I don't drink it I don't feel as well on those days. I recommend it to anyone who hasn't yet tried it. I have IBS-C by the way.

Not surprising since it is chock full of enzymes to help break down food. Plus it is a good source of soluble fiber.

As everyone is different you'll never know unless you try it BUT...... I am IBS-D and i suspect i may be fructose sensitive and both papaya and mango gave me D - give it a go though, maybe on a weekend when you don't have to go anywhere. Papaya is on the soluble fibre safe list so you might be absolutely fine. This trial and error is frustrating isnt it?!

I dunno, I think I'd watch the papaya for IBS-D. The very first time I had papaya was in Hawaii, and the server very politely and subtly told me I should eat no more than half, as it would cause D. In my experience, it's wonderful for IBS-C, but I'd be leery of it with IBS-D. It's pretty potent. Cantaloupe works well for me, too. Mango is kind of an in-between for me... not as 'strong' as papaya, but more so than cantaloupe.
Don't know what to say, if you're fructose intolerant. I've read that bananas are great for D, but... can you eat them?
best of luck,
