Is regualar sugar safe for IBS, I have heard it can cause bloating, has anyone else heard of this?

To each their own, I guess. Too much sugar gives me tummy problems.

I have also found too much sugar causes me problems. A little is ok for me though.

White sugar causes major problems for me, but I have no problem with brown sugar.

I know the EFI diet says sugar is fine....but I find it triggering for me too.

Thanks for all of your inputs. I have been finding that sugar is causing me problems and thought I was getting paranoid..constipation was one of the main problems I have seen as a consequence for too much sugar.Thanks!!

There is no difference between white and brown sugar except that brown sugar contains a little of the molasses from the raw sugar.

Jordy, if sugar is a trigger for you then starch must be a trigger too. Starch found in things like rice, potatoes, bread, etc is composed of long chains of glucose sugar molecules. However, I have never heard of glucose or white/brown sugar being an IBS trigger.
