To each their own, I guess. Too much sugar gives me tummy problems.

Same here. A little is OK but too much causes me bloating and constipation.

White sugar causes major problems for me, but I have no problem with brown sugar.

Thanks for all of your inputs. I have been finding that sugar is causing me problems and thought I was getting paranoid..constipation was one of the main problems I have seen as a consequence for too much sugar. Thanks!!

There is no difference between white and brown sugar except that brown sugar contains a little of the molasses from the raw sugar.

Jordy, if sugar is a trigger for you then starch must be a trigger too. Starch found in things like rice, potatoes, bread, etc is composed of long chains of glucose sugar molecules. However, I have never heard of glucose or white/brown sugar being an IBS trigger.

well, all I know is too much sugar constipates me and gives me problems. I can't afford to eliminate all starches. I don't seem to be the only one who has a problem with sugar.

It quite unlikely that the sugar is causing constipation. It is 100% absorbed into the blood stream in the small intestine. Constipation occurs in the large intestine. It is more likely that something else in the foods which contain the sugar are the problem.

I have the same problem with sugar Jordy. I get immediate gas and end up constipated every time I try to eat something with white sugar. I just avoid it now. But brown sugar doesn't bother me. Can't figure that out, but some things I've stopped trying to figure out.
