I posted a couple days ago that I had been constipated from medicine or something...I went to the bathroom yesterday, but the problem I am having now is that I think I over-strained to go to the bathroom and my rear feels a little 'funny'. It kind of hurts. Do you guys know what I am talking about? I hope someone can relate. my Mom said that being constipated runs in the family. Not great news, but she's always had trouble with hemmorhoids (or, however you spell it!) Can anyone relate to over-straining to go to the bathroom? Will this weird feeling eventually go away? It almost makes me feel like I have to go to the bathroom but not...arh! It's hard to describe. Please write back and give some advice! Thanks a million!

Is there any blood on the toilet paper? You might have hurt your rectum by straining so hard. You can try putting a little bit of Vaseline (petroleum jelly) on a piece of toilet paper and gently moisturize that area so that it heals faster. Kind of like you would do to a baby.
I have no experience with hemorrhoids so I can't help you if that's the case.

It's probably just a bit inflamed from straining. Hemorrhoids are like painful bumps around the anal opening--the really bad ones look like blood blisters! I have suffered from hemorrhoids a lot, and I dread it big time. For hemorrhoids, you can put an ice cube in a plastic bag (tie off the bag just above the cube.) Then apply that your bottom and keep it there till the ice melts. This can shrink the tissue.

If it's inflammation, the best thing I've found is to use an old soft wash cloth, folded, and soaked (and wrung out) in warm water. Apply this to your bottom after a bowel movement (or anytime it feels uncomfortable). Keep it on there for 5 minutes or so. This will relax the anal muscles and make it feel better. A tiny bit of vaseline is good, too.

It sometimes takes awhile to feel better, but it will eventually get back to normal.

I know what you are talking about, I am completely ripped up from such severe C. I still do get the D attacks occastionally, but what is the worst is when you are having a D attack with all the cramping and urgency and such, but it is stuck behind severe C. You are sweating and trying to pass this blockage basically so your D attack can get out and these awful stabbing cramps in your stomach can go away. Anyways back to you. Yes, I often have to lay down after a BM because it takes so much out of me and things just don't feel right down there. If you have hemrroids, you can get an over the counter little tube that you put in the freezer and you can insert it into your anus to reduce inflammation and irritation, however, you do have to ask the pharmacist for it because they keep it behind their counter. It is only about 1.5 inches long and narrow enough to insert comfortably. The other thing is like someone else suggested, using some toilet paper to apply some Vit E ointment, or you can use latex gloves if you need to insert a little. No double dipping!
Hey, remember, all this stuff about our rear ends is embarassing for every single one of us, but if we don't talk about it and we don't go to the Dr. because we are "embarassed", we will suffer in silence and there will be many serious illnesses and deaths that could have been prevented.
