Hi there.
It says to only eat most fruit/veg with soluble fibre.

Does that mean I can have a salad sandwich on sourdough bread or mountain bread? I don't know how much soluble fibre I need to eat with raw/fresh vegies etc.
Sorry to trouble you I just am not sure how much soluble fibre is enough.

Everyone is different. I simply cannot eat raw vegetables except for an occasional carrot stick. Other raw vegetables give me D no matter how much soluble fiber I eat. As for bread--the only bread I can eat is french or sourdough from a bakery unless I make it and know what is in it. I don't do well with whole grains. This is just my experience. You could be totally different.

SF is to be eaten with every meal. Many IBS suffers cannot eat raw veggies or unpeeled fruit because they contain too much IF. For example, I can only eat peeled veggies that have been well cooked.

Generally speaking I have 1/2 cup of oatmeal, white rice, pasta other good source of SF with every meal. In summary you need a good sized portion of SF with every meal and if you are IBS-D then be careful about eating foods particularly fruits and veg with a high amount of IF.

You might gain more insight by reading this web page and the others it has links to.

Are you IBS-C, IBS-D or IBS-A?

Good luck

Well I think I am IBS D, because when I have too much coffee or choc I get incredible ripping pains in my tummy an d bloating/wind and need to use the loo right NOW but it's not always diarrohea, sometimes it is loose but you feel almost constipated then you might go to the loo again and WHOOSH diarrohea!
