I read an article from this month about how foods lower your cholestrol and how soluble fiber is very helpful! ie: oatbran, oatmeal, apples ect.. which we know..
Has anyone tried oatbran? Quaker has one and so does arrow head mills. Just wondering if it was safe since it is a bran but not with wheat. On quakers website is shows 3g SF and 3g ISF same as quaker oatmeal. And I found this really yummy waffle recipe. Oatbran ginger waffles
2 large egg whites 1 cup Quaker® Oat Bran hot cereal, uncooked 1 cup all-purpose flour 1/2 cup sugar 1 teaspoon ginger 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon baking powder 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves 1/4 teaspoon salt 1 cup almond/rice milk 3 tablespoons vegetable oil 2 tablespoons dark molasses
Preparation Steps Heat waffle iron according to manufacturer's instructions. In small bowl, beat egg whites until soft peaks form; set aside. In large bowl, combine oat bran, flour, sugar, ginger, cinnamon, baking soda, baking powder, cloves and salt; mix well. Wisk together milk, oil and molasses until well blended. Add to dry ingredients, mixing just until moistened. Do not overmix -- there should be lumps. Fold egg whites into batter. Lift waffle iron lid; pour about 1 cups of batter onto surface of waffle iron grid. Close the lid; bake until steam no longer escapes from sides of the iron and waffles are deep golden brown. Serve with fruit or Aunt Jemima Lite or Butter Lite Syrup, if desired. I would think it would be safe, especially considering that the IF and SF are equal.
The waffle recipe looks good!

Oat bran is another name of oatmeal . The nutritional information for Quaker Oat Bran Hot Cereal states it contains 6 gram of dietary software of which 3 grams is IF and 3 grams SF. In other words it is 50% IF and 50% SF just like Quacker Oatmeal. Like oatmeal it should be safe in moderate quantities.

I think it should be OK because first, it's oat fiber so there is a good ratio of SF/IF and second, you still mix it with white flour. Enjoy
