How to exercise in this freezing weather

I have been taking daily 30 minute walks for 2 years. But the weather, lately, has been obnoxiously freezing. I haven't been able to walk and I feel this is contributing to my C really significantly.

Does anyone have any advice? I wish I had a treadmill or something. Stretches don't seem to be helping. I need to move....but it's so darn cold!

You could try going to your local mall and walking around for half an hour - people do it - I used to work in the mall and every single morning I would see this woman hoofing around with full 80's spandex outfit, arm and ankle weights, walkman and everything. You don't have to go to that extreme - lol - but people really do use the mall for exercise.

IBS-A since age 12, and fructose sensitive; with the exception of my pregnancy, have been following Heather's diet since Nov. 19, 2007.
Taking 12g of Acacia per day. Relatively stable since March 2008!

One thing that might help is actually getting used to it. I used to not be able to run once the temperature got below 50. But I worked on my breathing technique and now I can run when it gets to about 28, that's my threshold.

Of course, I have no idea how cold it gets where you live. My suggestion might work for fellow Marylanders but not someone in Maine. The mall idea is also good, or you could try exercise DVDs. You might be able to get them from your local library.

I ended up going to the mall. I hate the mall! But, it's 5 degrees today. Too cold for me.

A basic stepping video is a great thing to do in winter. They are even available at some grocery stores. I do all indoor exercise in winter and really miss running by the lake and biking. But it is barely above zero here!

IBS-A for 20 years with terrible bloating and gas. On the diet since April 2004. Remember this from Heather's information pages:
"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!
