I started taking the Acacia Fiber last Wednesday night. So far, I've not experienced any gas, bloating, cramps, etc. However, I noticed that I haven't had a bowel movement since then. Is that normal when you first start taking it or not?

Are you normally C or D?? I am D and found that acacia really helped get me down to one bm per day--very nice since I had been having 6 to 8. How much are you taking??

The majority of the time I'm C, but once in a while, I'm D. I'm taking 1/2 teaspoon twice a day with 8oz of liquid.

I am not having any luck using acacia. I tried it for over a month, starting with the low recommended dose and slowly increasing, but it has actually made my symptoms worse. I can't attribute my IBS symptoms with anything else; my food intake has not changed (I stick closely to Heather's IBS diet). I'm going to start Equalactin again but am frustrated that the acacia has not helped, especially after reading all the testimonies from IBS sufferers, stating how much better they feel now. Has anyone else had this problem?

Angie, are you IBS-C or IBS-D? I finally had some progress today. I'm a small person so I wonder if I need to start with a 1/4 teaspoon and just make sure I drink a lot of liquid this time.

Yes, you are not alone. I cannot tolerate it, and I know other people who never where able to tolerate it. The people who haven't been helped by Acacia usually just don't post about it.
