Ok, I've been very stable for the last 2 months and now this. There's something I ate that is causing me great pain in my lower left abdomen. When I push on that part of the intestine, I can feel real soreness and sensitivity. I am not constipated nor do I have diarrea. I was trying to have a BM today but couldn't because as soon as I push I have sharp pain. I tried heating pad but no use. I know I've been experimenting with food more lately and I had russian sausage with olive oil, ate some spicy chinese (they made a mistake on my order and made it spicy so I had few spoons and sent it back). I've been eating lots of organges too. Does anything sound suspicious here? I had colonoscopy less than a year ago and barium enema procedure and everything looks fine. Please help!!!

P.S. I have been running outside without a coat, from garage to the house. Maybe I got some kind of weird cold?

Sounds like you're having spasms/cramps. The sausage with olive oil would definitely cause problems and a flare in IBS symptoms -- the red meat, the fat content are both triggers. Spicy food shouldn't be problem -- but spicy food is usually high in fat. Oranges without a good soluble fiber base can also be a problem.

I'd try eating mostly soluble fiber foods for the next day or two and continue with the heat therapy -- teas are good too. Hope you start feeling better soon!

Tatyana, I get the same thing. Sort of like that pain on the side you get from jogging? It happens to me on my left side too and if it gets bad, I start to get pains like contractions where it feels like I'm about to deliver something (I've never given birth but I'm guessing that's what it feels like?). Then when I try to have a BM, I have to hold back to let the pain pass but it comes back when I try to have the BM. The next day I'm usually sore in the groin/lower tummy area. And this happens without me eating bad stuff so go figure.

Bendee,

I took a hot bath last night and used heating pad most of the evening. I am doing much better today. You are right, food isn't always the reason; sometimes we just go though those pains as part of IBS.

It's snowing in Seattle today. I am hoping you have a Merry Christmas!
