Why is dried fruit a trigger?

I like having raisins or dried apricots in my oatmeal or cereal. I'm curious as to why they are considered triggers.

Because they are insoluble fiber, and also high in fructose. If you have been eating them without problems, then definitely continue to eat them! I can have raisins as long as I eat them with a soluble fiber base - if I eat them alone I'm in trouble.
