Is there such a thing as too much acidophilus?

I started taking two acidophilus pills plus eating one soy yogurt a day all at the same time. I ended up with crazy diarrhea but am not sure if it was caused by this or something else-

Does anyone know about this? I am a probiotic newbie!

What are the ingredients in your acidophillus pills?

lactobacillus Acidophilus
Lactobacillus rhamnsus
Bifobacterium longum
Lactospore
Modified cellulous
rice powder
beet fiber
vegeterian stearate
silica
It also says it's non dairy.

Can you see anything that might cause problems?
Do you have to be careful about using too much at once?

The ingredients look ok. Sometimes they use FOS as a filler in probiotics and it can give some people problems. If you are tyically IBS-D it might be possible but not likely that the beet fiber could cause D.

Are you typically IBS-C, IBS-D or IBS-A? Are you still taking the probiotics? Has the D stopped? Are you taking the probiotic with a SF base and not on an empty stomach? Out of curiousity what is the brand name of the probiotic you are taking?

I am IBS-A, but with a tendency towards D. I stopped taking them the end of last week and the D is there, but not as bad. I am NOT taking the probiotic on a full stomach- I take it with my pills in the morning on an empty stomach.. does that make a big difference?
The brand name is BioFutures.

I think it is always wise to take probiotics with a good base of SF. The probiotics you are taking contain beet fiber as a filler which is mostly IF. It might be best to take them when you eat breakfast.

I couldn't find a url a web page to any probiotics made by BioFutures.

I may have gotten the name wrong. I'll check again tonite.

Do you have a recommendation on a good safe probiotic to take?

I stopped using the Bio Futures pills and just started taking the "pearls" and was still having more diarrhea than ever before. I finally stopped the pearls and now I'm back to being more constipated, which I guess is better than horrible D.
I'm stumped.
