There is a suspected link between SIBO and fructose malabsorption. You can read a bit about it in this article . In the article they use the term SBBO (small bowel
bacterial overgrowth) instead of SIBO.

Good luck

Congratulations! I know, it's pretty odd to congratulate someone on having a condition such a SIBO but we all know what it means - it's something that can be cured and hopefully you will be too!

What's the treatment for SIBO anyway?

Wow! Having something to point to must make you feel better

I'm thinking of going to a new GI because I am thoroughly dissatisfied with my current one because after my colonoscopy revealed nothing was physically wrong with me, he didn't want to do any more testing. For my own peace of mind, I'd like to be tested for everything possible so that I know that IBS is truly what I'm stuck with and what I must deal with.

So, long story short, how do you ask to be tested for SIBO? Do you say just that or is there a particular name for the test? Thanks!

I don't know about Canada but here in the US it's done at the gastroenterologist's office. I would suggest calling your gastro doc and ask if they can do this test at their office.
