I've read alot of the posts up here and alot of people claim to be stable. I've definitely noticed an improvement in my symptoms but in no way would I consider myself symptom free. Ex I'm IBS A and I've seemed to eliminate any D for at least a month now(knock on wood) but I still occasionally get C, still goes at least 5 times a day and have never gotten rid of gas. My question is am I stable or is there a heaven some where and stability means you guys hav no symptoms at all? I'm looking for hope here!

Stability is an illusive concept.

Generally speaking if I can carry on with my daily activities without my IBS interfering with my activites then I consider myself to be stable.

my philosaphy is I am stable if:
if I can go to work
If I am able to eat beyond the btc cycle diet
if my tummy is good enought that I can forget about it for a little while and have fun.
I don't aim big, I defintily still have flare ups, once a week or so, but they are ussuall short, couple hours, and I can get on with life. stable for me isn't perfect, but as close to normal as I think I'll get, so it's normal for me.

Ok. Wow. I know that there are people out there who have worse medical problems but this is hell. This is forever? Can anyone refer me to a GI doctor in New York? I need answers. Thanks for clearing up my stability question.
