Hi all - so I am a medical student and have started my "on call" rotations which this month occurs every 3 nights! I was doing really well with my IBS by eating well, sleeping enough and exercising daily but now there is no time to sleep, and exercising is almost impossible...doctors can be so hypocritical - my goal as a practicing physician is to practice what I preach! Unfortunately, I have to do what "they" tell me to until then. Anyway - I was wondering if any of you have experience with long shifts and night work and controlling your IBS or if any of you have any suggestions. I was on call last night and slept about 2 hours, and have had cramping and nausea all day now. I appreciate all of your suggestions! Thanks. Time for a nap~ Danielle

I am a rotating shift worker ... 12 hour shifts, days and nights. On graveyards I keep a bag of pretzels handy and munch through the night. Not enough to stuff myself, but enough to keep something in my somach.

I work full time and feel sick most of the time I'm at work. Getting enough sleep is so important to me! Today I slept an hour less than usual and I'm having such a hard day: tired, achy, crampy.

IBS-C since 2006. No signs of IBS now, it's been 4 yrs. Only dairy allergy now.
