OMG! How about everything I eat?!?!
Well, I am just having a really bad attack right now, so it's probably not the best time to answer this question!
This is crazy. I am in one of my "am I going to have to live with this FOREVER??" modes.
I was diagnosed 6 years ago next month, and it seems it has only gotten worse. I have been taking prilosec for YEARS, and acid ease for YEARS, and I still have regular attacks.
I just don't know what else to do.
I have not drank a soda in 5 years, I don't eat fried foods, or dairy. Whew! IBS is sooooo frustrating!

Hi, Fancymom! Prilosec is not a drug typcially used to treat IBS, so I doubt that it's going to help ease your symptoms. It's used to treat upper-GI problems, like heartburn, and its side effects can include diarrhea and constipation. In my experience, using these kind of medications have made my IBS worse. I was prescribed Tagamet when I was first diagnosed with IBS and it was horrible and totally the wrong treatment. I've done much better eating carefully, according to Heather's guidelines, and taking meds that are more typical for IBS w/ diarrhea (Imodium, Elavil).

Please read through Heather's info or check out her books. She provides a lot of valuable information on different IBS medications, what they treat and their side effects. Maybe those medications are what's keeping you from getting stable and getting some relief!

Take care, and welcome to the boards!
