Caltrate D caused abdominal pain?

Ok...doing good so far. 1 1/4 acacia daily, working out, eating well...starting to add foods. Gone almost a month without a "D" episode...all my labs from my GP came back normal.
That said, I started noticing that abdominal pain was getting worse and worse...I noticed that it happend in the AM...and got better thru the day. Then I thought of my Caltrate D. I take 1 pill after am breakfast (7am) and one after morning snack 10:30am...Friday, I was away from home and did not have them to take. I noticed my abdomen felt fine.
Has this happened to anyone else?

No one else has had this...
Again, no caltrate D today, and my abdomen feels much better.

I did have this problem with Caltrate D, and I am an IBS-D. I didn't want to say anything because I don't want to scare anyone off from using it, especially since a lot of other IBSers seem to tolerate it well. Right now I'm not using a calcium supplement.

Maria...thanks for your post. Everyone is different. I went to a naturopath who said if you take high doses of Calcium unopposed (without magnesium) it can cause ab pain. I have been off Caltrate D for 3 days, no pain. Clearly, that seems to be me.
However, that does not mean others cannot tolerate it.

Calcium supplements can be a major source of problems for those with IBS, especially IBS-D. I took one and within a few hours had bloating with diarrhea, cramps as well. After stabilizing myself, a week later tried another with the same results.
There might be a connection to those who are lactose intolerant and this supplement. Since I cannot drink milk or eat any dairy foods, I can understand my having an issue with a calcium supplement.
However I have friends with IBS who are not lactose intolerant but have issues with calcium pills.
