so... so far i've only tried soy milk and.. some of them are just plain BLEEEEEEEEEH! Silk's Very Vanilla I can actually tolerate and maybe even say I like, because all of the sugar covers up the nastey soy taste. Today I put Silk's Vanilla (store was out of Very) and Bleeeeeeh!

So point of this post:
which "milks" taste best and which are easiest (in general i know everyone is different) to digest?

I seriously have no idea what sets me off because some days are worse than others and there doesn't seem to be any correlation, other that most of the time dairy bothers me. Unfortunately I love dairy. Ice cream is my favorite and almost of all the fake ice creams I have tried do not compare.

I cannot handle any soy...which is too bad because I actually like the taste of soy milk...and cheeses.

I just drink Rice Dream, rice cheese (rarely) and use sorbet as my "ice cream". Chocolate HaaganDaz is my fav.

I love Rice Dream. It's so good. However, get the refrigerated kind, not the tetra pack one. It tastes a lot better. It's very creamy, just like regular milk. Rice cheese is also pretty good.

I never saw it in the refridgerated section. What store did you find it in?

I also recommend the refrigerated Rice Dream. I get the regular enriched version, and it is seriously one of my favorite IBS-friendly things now. My cereal is delicious in the morning I get mine at Whole Foods, so I'm not sure if the regular grocery stores carry it, but you might be able to find it. Good luck!

I agree with you.. I love Very Vanilla Silk but the best is the Chocolate Silk -- it tastes just like chocolate milk!MMMMmmmm. Plain soy and regular vanilla are only fit to cook/ bake with.

Well, Pud, I love dairy too. I have tried every type of "milk" that I can find. Many varieties of soy, rice, almond, oatmeal and hazelnut. The only thing I can tolerate to actually drink is chocolate almond milk. I find it at Trader Joe's and Wild Oats. I can't remember the brand. You should also look for Edy's Soy Delicious and Purely Decadent ice creams. They are soy ice cream but are not too bad. The Purely Decadent is rather addictive.

Usually I buy it in my health food store but sometimes they also have it at my regular supermarket (Giant). It's right next to the refrigerated soy milks and lactose free milks.

Almond Breeze Chocolate Almond Milk
Pacific Rice Original (plain, for cereal and cooking)
Rice Dream Original (plain, for cereal and cooking)
8th Continent and Silk vanilla and chocolate milks are pretty good

Soy Delicious Purely Decadent "ice creams" - Peanut Butter Zig Zag (The Rocky Road one looks delicious too, but I can't find it anywhere! I'm also looking for the Soy Delicious fudge bars. I'll report back when I try them!)
Haagen Daaz sorbets (chocolate, strawberry)
Tofutti Cuties - "ice cream" sandwiches
Soy Dream Vanilla (not the French Vanilla)
Soy Dream Strawberry

I also posted this question in the recipe forum and I know I've seen discussions on this, but can't find. I'm reacting to large amounts of soy when I cook. Baking seems to be OK. What else can you use instead of soy to make rice pudding, regular pudding, "cream" sauces/soups, etc. Please help!

I use almond milk for almost everything. On occasion I will use WestSoy Plus soymilk. I use almond and soy milk on my morning cereal, for baking and when I make rice pudding. I don't "drink" any of them straight like I used to drink a glass of cow's or goat's milk.
