Reducing the acidity of coffee doesn't matter when it comes to IBS, just like decaf coffee still aggravates IBS. I think that's because it's an enzyme in coffee beans which is what's causing the problem.
Here's a link to an '03 newsletter article about it: Seven Deadly Sins of IBS: COFFEE
I drink Teeccino now instead of coffee and I think it tastes fine. Here's a link to the site (which also discusses caffeine and coffee's affect on the GI tract and provides a plan for weaning yourself off coffee):
Teeccino: Coffee's affect on the colon.

If you are still unstable (as you post in your signature line, you cannot be positive the coffee is okay for you. Why not ditch all forms of coffee?

I can totally sympathise- I'm a coffee addict too- tho in the UK I think it's harder- there isnt' all those substitutes out there! I managed to find a Teechino stockist- but to be honest it just aint the same- you don't get that mental boost! I've been trying to quit but today for example a nice hot cup of peppermint tea but a thumping headache and foggy head! I know a cup of coffee will cure it but it'll upset my gut! good luck to you! I've managed about 5 days straight at the most so far.

The first few days after I quit drinking coffee, I went through the headaches and mental fog. It was awful and so tempting to just have a cup of coffee. But, I knew it would hurt my gut, so I stood my ground. Where did this willpower come from?
Anyway, I'm great now and don't need the mental boost. It's the psychological addiction I fight now. That's where the Teeccino is helping. It actually gives me a lot of energy after I drink it and I don't get the crash I used to get from coffee after the caffeine stimulation subsides.
I'm sure if you tough it out, you'll feel much better soon!
