I'm IBS-D and was just wondering what you all consider stable. I have been following the diet for 6 months now, and I usually don't have D everyday, but I still have urgent bowel movements, that are still very loose. Wondering if that is what I should expect or if any of you have actually gotten back to normal eventually.
I still have bloating and cramps on a daily basis. I have also lost like 30 pounds over the last six months. I remember my doctor saying something about telling her if I lost a lot of weight. Just wondering if any of you have lost a lot of weight on Heather's diet. I know I have been eating a lot healthier, but I still feel like I lost significant amount of weight over the winter. Plus, I don't exercise at all.

I've had IBS-D for about 15 years. Once I found Heather's info and changed my diet, and incorporated alternative therapies and supplements into my life, it took about 2 years to fully stabilize. By stable, I mean that IBS no longer gets in my way. I have normal BMs just about every day. The only tough time is around my period, which I generally can get through without attacks but I have a lot of gas and discomfort for a few days, which could be caused by IBS or menstrual cycles, who knows which. I don't have to plan around bathrooms and I can make plans in advance without worrying about IBS. It takes a while, but it can be done.
Whether or not 30 pounds is a cause for concern depends on many things (your previous weight, how quickly you lost it, etc.). It couldn't hurt to talk to your doc. I lost about 10 pounds when changed my diet, some people gain weight. It's different for everyone.

Have you tried Acacia or another SF supplement? It tends to be really good for IBS-D.

Were you checked for a wheat allergy (celiac disease)? Sometimes that causes people to lose a lot of weight.
