Hi, does anyone have IBS bouts with a following crippling lower back ache. I have suffered for years and have only just found this wonderful web site. Have now purchased the books (but not recieved them yet) and started the diet. Previously I have been on a low salicylate diet but found this only gave some help to back pain but aggravated the IBS. I got no help from the gastroenterologist other than the IBS and back pain are related. I hope if I stay on this diet it will help me. It has only been three days and the diarrhea has stopped. Fantastic! Any info is appreciated.

I had a lot of lower back pain. They told me that was because my colons were so full they were pushing against my spine and such. I dont know if you have IBS-C but it may be the case for you too. Since the diet it has been a lot less tho not resolved completely.

I get a lot of lower back pain, too. I am IBS-C. I have always associated the pain with my pelvic pain (I am being investigated for endometriosis), but it makes sense that the colon could be putting pressure on my spine.

I am not IBS-C. The back pain is a inflamatory response from the food in my colon. Dont know how to describe it other than it acts like a poison. The pain is like in the vertebral disc area, like arthrhitis. If I eat only rice and pears it goes within 24hrs. I guess the inflamation is reduced? I was wondering if this sounds like fibromyalgia but don't know much about it. Sometimes at night after eating the wrong food the pain circulates my body until it finds a new spot to get me (sometimes shoulder, but most often back). Its a puzzle.
