You need more than 80oz a day first of all. If I get C, I up my tea intake and up my IF produce, in combination with SF of course. Make sure you are having enough safe fats. I suggest trying flax oil. I am also leary of oat bran personally. If it were me anyway I would try more tea, more IF, flax oil, heating pad/bath, more exercise, and then if that didn't help I would do the BTC.

IBS-A for 20 years with terrible bloating and gas. On the diet since April 2004. Remember this from Heather's information pages:
"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!

I'm not going to step on toes here, but didn't you answer a post that you eat ice cream, like dairy ice cream? I know you may not have had any in the past couple of days, but from what I have read on this board ice cream, dairy, etc. is not only a horrible experience waiting to happen to IBsers, but to people who do not have IBS. When was the last time you ate any dairy, ice cream? I had a very difficult time giving up my lactose free fat free "milk", but switched to rice milk, I still get the craps, but hated to give it up in my cereal but did after a lot of posts regarding the long term problems from dairy that won't show up right away.

I'm just shocked I got to go back on the EFI diet since I've been more vigilant as of late.
Generally I go on EFI if I have been off track in terms of my diet, but I've been doing a better job of recent.

When I get constipated badly, and anything can cause it, stress, something you ate, time of the month, whatever the reason...you have to settle your gut down. This means cutting OUT the fiber for a few days, the fiber will irritate your guy even more. You should settle your guy and you will find that you WILL go even without fiber because your gut is no longer in a spasm state. then you can gradually introduce IF again. Keep piling fiber on an upset gut will do you no good at this stage. As all the posts have suggested you need to go back to the "when you can't eat anything' diet. Good luck. Also, if you take any kind of laxative now, you will be adding to an already irritated gut and probably still won't be able to have a BM. I have been in your situation and the above recommendations do work. Try not to stress about why it happened, just fix it now and be careful what you eat in the future.

are you getting enough exercise? that is JUST AS IMPORTANT as diet! At least 30 minutes a day moderate cardio and three times a week yoga or weights is a must for us!

good luck!!

I'm really wondering if I need a doctor's visit or if there is something I can take to go...even if I get D.

This is really bad, I am REALLY backed up and it is hard to wait.

I agree with Chitchat and laurenkay.

Start the breaking the cycle diet to calm the gut. Use not laxitives, they wont help, only aggrivate. After a few days start inserting fiber, bit by bit, very slowly again.

Start doing more cardio too. Thats very important. You do enough weight but you definitely need more cardio, that is what helps the most.

The only thing is, today and the last few days, I can feel the rumbling in my stomach.
I can feel the unrest and cramping....my stomach it feels is moving but it just can't empty itself.
This is really really unhealthy and I can't help but wonder if there is something...some food or medicine I can take which will be the final link to push everything out and give me peace.

I was considering having a lot of applesauce tonight OR apple cider OR lactulose.
I really feel given my stomach unrest and how it's just waiting to release I gotta do something to release.

Flax oil....isn't that 100% fat...way too high and likely to worsen C?
When I have too much fat it always dries me up, even more.
Isn't it unhealthy to eat just oil?
I'm unsure of what product you're recommending.
