Hi,

So this morning I woke up with an attack (this week has been really bad IBS-wise, and I don't know why). Luckily, it didn't last as long as they often do. I always get cramps right after an attack, and hot flashes too (no, I'm not menopausal lol). However, about an hour after the attack I started to get a sharp, shooting pair right near my breast bone, underneath my ribs. I have no idea what it is - this has never happened before. It even hurts when I breathe. Has anyone else had something similar or have any ideas what it could be? I'm trying not to freak out, because God knows I don't need a stress induced IBS attack on top of it. My chest hurts too. Sorry for the randomness of this post, but I just have no clue what it could be Thanks!!!!

It could be your reflux. I would say if it continues to call your doctor just to be safe.

It could be gas. If it doesn't go away, talk to your doctor about it.

For me, I found that my chest pain was caused by gas in the chest region. Try fennel caplets or fennel tea. See if that doesn't help. If not, ask your doctor. Good luck!

If it's on your right side and the middle of your chest, it could be your gallbladder. Also, you may have pulled a muscle. Something I'm dealing with right now after a bad IBS attack on Friday.

Of course, that's in addition to the other good suggestions.

I have def had sharp pains under my rib cage that hurts every time you take a deep breath. I used to get it from time and time before the diet. I think it has a lot to due with gas. Fennel Tea has really helped me with any excess gas that i have been having.

Your def not alone!

Thank you all for your responses. I think it might be related to my reflux. The pain didn't last for more than an hour. I'm going to see my specialist on Thursday, so I'm planning on mentioning it then. I've already had my gallbladder checked out, and that came back normal. I am going to ask him about a hiatial hernia which I think people with GERD often have? Does anyone else have any more info on this? Once again, you all rock
