This may be a stupid question but I am not nearly as up on all of this info as everyone else on here seems to be! I love french fried but obviously have not had them from fast food places since my IBS started becaus ei am sure they will make me have an attack. My question is what about the frozen fried they sell at super markets? I would bake them in the oven instead of frying them so would that make them any safer? Or is the amount of grease they use to package them negate any goodness?
THanks for any help, I would love to be ablet o eat them with no hesitation!

Most frozen french fries are high in fat. Baking them will not reduce the fat. However, McCain sells a Premium low fat frozen french fry that you bake in the oven. It contains less that 2.5% non-hydrogenated canola oil by weight. I eat them from time to time.

I miss french fries too..I was able to come up with homemade french fries that are pretty tastey...

I basically cut up regular potatoes and sweet pototoes usually into cubes..put the tiniest bit of olive oil..and toss whatever spices I am in the mood for that day. Anything from garlic powder to chili powder...basil, italian seasoning...really anything and everything.
I then put them in a 350degree oven for about 35 mins stirring every 15 mins...then I crank the oven up to just below broil and cook them until they are as crunchy as I want them...Once you put the oven on broil you pretty much have to shake them every two mins so they don't burn...They taste really good, and get crisp..
