Hi. Does anyone know any good soluble fiber supplements that you can purchase in the UK? Thanks.

As far as I have been able to find out, the only SFS available in the UK (I live here too!) are those based on psyllium husk. I used to take plain psyllium husk mixed with water, but it is hard to swallow. Now I order Acacia from this website. Of course, the shipping costs bump up the price, but it is economical to use. I find it really helpful, so to me it's worth paying more for it. I really hope that Heather gets a European distributor soon. I would certainly recommend Acacia to my local independent HFS and Holland and Barrett. I am sure it would sell really well over here. I think awareness of IBS is growing, and with it, a demand for related products - for example, you can now get stick-on heat pads specifically for IBS. Acacia next??

Hi. Thanks for your reply, Rio! Just to let you know, I searched and searched on the internet and found SFS based on apple pectin. I will try it and see. If it doesn't work, I think I will order the Acacia.
Thanks again!

Hey there, another person from the Uk here (23/f) I too searched for a SFS supplement over here and went round HFS and H and Barrett asking if they could suggest anything and the results were pretty much the same - *blank stare* So I just order Acacia from the website and yes it is definitely worth the investment. I already have an 'Acacia Tin' and I buy the refill top up packs, 2 at a time. On average, it has been working out (plus shipping) at around £20 something pounds for these two packs and they last me, I would say, around 3 months. At the end of the day, at under £10 a month (and also considering I don't drink alcohol or smoke) my own Health is always worth the few extra pennies. I always have a Tsp of acacia sprinkled on my banana and porridge in the morning (with a tsp of ground flaxseed) and a tsp on my lunch and dinner. I have a pretty good BM after b/fast or later in the day. I can't imagine life without it. Hope it works out for you
Heather, IBS-D
