I am assuming I have IBS because nothing else seems to make sense, but I know I need to go to a doctor to have other problems ruled out. I have an appointment with an endocrinologist later in the summer for my PCOS, but I don't know how much that would help (unless these are side effects from Metformin, not IBS). I am a student and I can go to the student health center for free, I'm just not sure how good they are with diagnosing things other than the basic cold, etc. Should I try to find a general practicioner? I saw a gastroenternologist about 4 years ago, and he didn't find anything wrong then, but I'm guessing serious problems could potentially develop in that time span. Thanks!

You need to see a GI doctor and have him run all of Heather's suggested tests so other illnesses that mimic ibs symptoms can be ruled out. If the GI doc doesn't want to run the tests then go to another one.
