Hi! I'm new to the board.... I was diagnosed with IBS a year and a half ago. I was on Zelnorm until it was recalled; my doctor put me on Amitiza, but it didn't work and made me nauseous. So, I have stopped taking it and now am "going it alone". I have been taking Heather's Acacia Fiber and following her diet guidelines. I seem to be doing ok, but I have abdominal pain and bloating. I also am drinking Heather's fennel tea - that seems to help some. I have noticed lately that I have been sick to my stomach, almost like there is a "lump" in my stomach. Is this normal? Also, I used to eat 2 packets of instant oatmeal for breakfast, but now it makes my stomach hurt and I get bad pains in my abdomen - I noticed that the box stated that there were milk ingredients, could that be the cause? I would appreciate any feedback.
Thanks, Heatherrenee

Yeah, instant oatmeal can be problematic - you may want to buy just plain rolled oats and flavor it yourself. Also, there are some people who just can't tolerate oatmeal at all.
For lumpiness/nausea, you may want to figure out if you're eating too much at a sitting and whether you're getting enough insoluble fiber. And ginger will probably help you feel better, as will walking and/or yoga!

Hi-
Regarding the oatmeal, it could be the milk. I've had to go completely soy. It took a little getting used to, but I like it now.

Thanks Astrochick!
I'll try the plain rolled oats, ginger, and walking/yoga.
