it's really weird cos I know that for most people exercising is really helpful but when I do some form of exercise I get a gassy type pain. Not sure if this is to do with anxiety or just gas being moving about... does anyone else experience this?

I find that exercise helps while I'm doing it, but when I eat afterwards, I tend to get more pain and bloating. Don't know whether that is because I tend to be hungrier and maybe eat faster? I get a lot of trapped gas and it feels very painful when it shifts about, too. I have found it helps to be mildly active after eating, though, even if just walking around.

You're not alone, I tend to get more gassy while I exercise as well. I'm not positive, but my own personal hypothesis is that since stomach muscles are involved in most exercise, particularly cardio, that different movements might make it react in a somewhat negative-IBS way. I have noticed, though, that the longer I exercise sometimes (depending on the type of exercise) my stomach seems to adjust more easily, and each subsequent time I get less discomfort. HTH.
