Hi to everyone,
The end of my semester is drawing close, and consequently all my IBS symptoms are getting worse. I worry about attacks during my 2 hour exam hours. Does anyone know anything that I might be able to munch on to help soothe the system? I know peppermint is good, but I have no idea if peppermint discs are actually peppermint or not.
I was thinking of taking some peppermint tea into my exams. Are there any additional solid solutions to mumble on that could help me? Thanks!

Try Chamomile tea to help calm the nerves as well as your tummy.

Maybe you could bring a few altoids into your exam. Personally I'm not crazy about them (too strong a taste for me), but I've heard they can help your tummy! I know how scary it can be to worry about your IBS interfering with exams, but try not to worry about it too much, or you might make things worse! Just relax before your exam, sip some nice strong peppermint tea, and convince yourself that everything will be fine. Good luck!

I used to drive almost an hour to school. Test days were the hardest. I would bring peppermint tea to sip on during the ride. I also would take altoids when I got to class. I would try to get there a little early and go to the bathroom as much as possible and walk the halls until the exam. I found I did worse on tests when I looked over my notes and everyone in class was so stressed it made me stress.
I had to take the NYS teaching certification exam 1 1/2 years ago. I ended up requesting a special bathroom pass so I could run to the bathroom anytime. Having that freedom took the pressure away and I never used it. Now those were two long test (4hours each). Maybe you can speak to your professors and let them know you may need to run to the bathroom. That way you don't feel like there will be a problem if you do need to go. I think you need every advantage to do a good job and sometime IBS just gets in the way.
