if SF is constipating and if IF theoretically makes you go, why have any SF at all?

Yes you are confused. SF is not constipating. It is the fiber that is in fiber supplements and those are known for making you go. Your gut likes pushing along SF but your body also needs IF too. Balance is always needed. SF is not unhealthy and can be found in whole grains like oats and barley and also fruits and vegetables. Eating the break the cycle really easy to digest diet is only to get the cramps to stop and afterward a mix of SF and IF is needed.

First of all oatmeal is half soluble half insoluble. My husband has to poop loads when he eats oatmeal and so everyone is different. If you eat green bananas they will bind you; something about the way the cells are before maturity. Always eat ripe bananas. Overripe bananas will help even more. I have been C bad in the past and that is one thing I am not anymore. I eat oatmeal almost everyday. I put my acacia in it and raisins and soy milk and I poop lots of softish poop. I also eat 2-3 bananas a day. I also try to drink 80oz of water and get sufficient exercise and sleep. My acacia dose is high. However there are people here who say they cannot tolerate oatmeal or bananas, but that has not been my experience at all. When I am feeling icky I eat oatmeal.

Jenny I eat oatmeal and bananas everyday and they are definately not binding. You may not being getting the correct SF and IF balance. I eat IF with a SF base with every meal and snack. Oatmeal is one of the easiest to make because it is balanced SF/IF already. Good luck

Like you, oatmeal and bananas are not binding for me, but they can be for other people. We're all different.

I eat oatmeal and bananas every day with SFS but without natural calm and very occassionally have pep caps. The instant is ok and actually has added vitamins. I usually eat scottish oats or quick canister oats or Irish quick oats. The whole oats have more IF (2g of each fiber).

I also eat lots of oatmeal and this is what I mix my Acacia into too. I do this for my supper and sometimes have bananas too, but I find that sometimes I get constipated from them if they are too green. I guess the ripe ones are better for us. I also learned that you can get hemorrhoids from diarrhea as well as from constipation.

Jenny I only eat instant oats because they are more ground up than regular oats and easier to digest. I take SFS before everything I eat so I believe I need it before Oatmeal to provide a cushion. Good Luck
