hi all, I'm getting what I think is acid reflux my doc gave me some meds for it when I described my symptoms to him, thing is I've been looking on here and people are mentioning like a bringing back up of food etc and I don't get that with me I just need to burp. I get like a pressure in my upper tummy/chest area- is this reflux? also I've got a lot of anxiety which tends to make EVERYTHING in my body go wrong lol so thinking this could just be another symptom of that *sigh*

I never actually had food come back up, either. Do your burps feel or taste acidy at all? I also had the sensation of a lump in my throat, probably from inflammation. Do you have that, or any soreness? Still give the meds a try; You should notice a difference in a week or two.

no they don't taste acidy. I do have a strange sensation in the back of my throat tho can't describe it just a feeling that's there. maybe it's just gas pressure I'm not sure but I will def give the meds a try thanks for your feedback

Yup, that weird feeling in the back of the throat can definitely be related to your reflux. Hope the meds work for you!

If you have a lot of anxiety, it would really behoove you to get *that* taken care of, though whatever means possible - therapy, medication, meditation/yoga/other self-help means, etc, whatever it takes. Trust me on this one (personal experience): your IBS will not stabilize if you have ongoing anxiety problems or excess stress. It's a seriously major trigger.
As for the reflux, I would say that's actually heartburn, not reflux, but that's just me. (I'm no doctor, LOL.) To me, "reflux" is acid backing up into the esophagus, whereas heartburn is more of a pressure/burning feeling without the acid backup. But the pills he gave you are probably fine for both, since they are similar.
