I went to the doctor last Monday and he found a hernia. He prescribed a prescription strength stool softener so that I would not strain. I stopped taking Zelnorm because it stopped working. Since I started taking the stool softener twice a day and continued to take metamucal I have only had 1 bm. My stomach is extremely bloated and I am having horrible cramps. I was just wondering if anyone else has ever been in the same situation. I don't know what to do other than take a laxative and I don't want to do that. I have called the doctor to leave a message and he is supposed to call me back. I need help now!!!!

Which stool softener did the doc prescribe? Have you been drinking a ton of fluids--excercising? Fluids help A LOT in moving your bowels along--so does exercise.

He prescribed colace. I have not been drinking as much water as I should. Thanks for the suggestion.
