Hi!
It's been a while since i was here! My ibs has been ok for a while as long as i stay away from milk, gluten, onions and garlic! But i'm preganant and recently my stomache swells so badly from my naval to bust that i can hardly breathe! It makes me feel sick like there's concrete inside me. It's so severe that my husband nearly called an ambulance! I'm worried it'll get worse as i get bigger. I'm only 4 months but it feels like the swelling happens above the baby whereas it used to swell all over. I went to the doctors but she was useless. Told me to see how it goes and drink tea but i don't think she gets that i can't breathe!!! Has anyone else had trouble? Can anyone offer advice?!

Wow, how scary. I can't offer any advice but I'll pray that everything is ok. Maybe you should try going to another doctor?

I feel for you!! I just gave birth to my second child and endured horrible IBS symptoms throughout the pregnancy.

Do you take a fiber supplement? If not, you really should. Try to drink as much water as your body can handle (I couldn't drink much at all while I was pg), as this will help the fiber work.

I second trying to find a new doc. My doc was wonderful and was all about trying different (safe!) things to try during pregnancy. I ended up taking Dulcolax, which is an EFI no-no, but it was a last resort for me.

Also, have you thought about seeing a psychologist? I know my anxiety over IBS makes things worse, and seeing her has helped out with a lot of my issues.

I just posted about my IBS disappearing on this board, so you may take hope that it could also happen to you.

You can also do pre-natal yoga to help you move things along. It may not make you tummy feel better, but it will help you relax and de-stress.

Hope you feel better soon!

Also, check out the sticky pregnancy link on this board. You might find some helpful suggestions.
