I have IBS and Crohn's. I am severely lactose intolerant to the point of being unable to take most medications that contain lactose. I also have never been able to find a calcium supplement my colon will tolerate (causes bleeding). I would like to know if anybody else has these problems. My doctors think I am nuts! Thanks.

About the calcium, could you try to just get more from your diet? I don't know what agrees with you, but I know soy/tofu has lots of calcium, almonds, kale. Can you have orange juice? That's fortified usually. What about Total cereal?

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, I am even unable to tolerate OJ fortified with calcium. I am also on a no-salt diet, which rules out canned sardines/salmon. I also cannot eat soy. You can see why I need help! ????

I, too, am severely lactose intolerant. Soy milk (any flavor), soy nog, soy yogurt, broccili, spinach, Luna Bars, NOW Cal-Mag pills, Nature's Own fortified bread, cashews, almonds, mozzarella soy cheese singles, and Soy Dream icecream are places where I get my calcium.

Good Luck!!!!!! It is important that you are both getting enough calcium and menstruating regularly -- otherwise you will develop osteoperosis later in life -- and you don't need to deal w/ that, too!

Total Cereal may contain milk and is wheat based -- so checked the ingredients -- but fortified breads and cereals are a good idea. Research what vitamins or foods you should eat/take with artificial / fortified sources of calcium in order to retain the most calcium possible.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!
