HEy I need advise on good safe protein other than meats and beans(which I try to limit as much as possible). I feel so groggy all the time with NO energy so I need to try to increase protein in a safe way. SOme tips for good lunches would be good since that seems to be the hardest. THanks and have a blesses dat and week.

How about fish?
Also, many people find protein powders nice, there's rice protein powder (you don't have to do soy or whey, although these are easiest to find) that you can make a smoothie with.
Another good source is almond butter -- can you tollerate small amounts of it? If so, it's great on toast with jelly (I like AB + mint jelly) and has a lot of protein. I think most other nut butters are like that too -- lots of protein.
Also, bananas have protein. If you can eat them, they are a tasty way to add protein and energy to your diet. Bring some to work to snack on
Do you cook your lunches or have to hunt them out (can you bring lunch at work, or do you have to eat out)?

Eggs (whites only).
Nut butters (peanut, almond, cashew, etc.) - not too much, because it's fatty!
Soy yogurt/soy smoothies.
Seitan (wheat gluten) - very meaty!
Fish - smoked fish on a bagel is safe and delicious.
Luna bars.

Hi,
How much protein does everyone get each day - any sample daily menus would be helpful with quantities listed. I am in desparte need of increasing protein - I am not eating soy or lots of beans and think that I need to add in egg whites and fish. Debbie IBS-C

I get it from Whole Foods.
Basically it's almonds grounded so finely that they become like a paste, so essentially it's a paste. There is only that in the Almond Butter, just almonds, nothing else.
It's SUPER cool in terms of the taste. It is so difficult to not put lots of it on my toast (it's high in fat, after all, it's nuts) because it is so delicious.

Well...
I think there was a recommendation as to how much protein one should intake per day. The RDA is (weight in kilograms) times (0.8).
So, for example, I weigh 53 kg and should take 53*0.8 = 42.4 g protein a day. In pounds I weigh 117 pounds.
To find out how much you weigh in kg you can go to google and type in "117 lb in kg" (replace 117 with your weight of course).
If you exercise (regularly), the 0.8 number might need to be upped a little. You might need some professional advice on that by how much to up it, though.

It has no sugar so it is not sweet. Whole Foods or large supermarket will have it probably next to the peanut butter.

"Almond paste" is a product? What's that? I thought it was a description of the thing, not like a name for a product.

Almond *Paste* is a sweet confectionery-type thing that is used for baking. You can sometimes buy it canned on the baking aisle. This is *not* the same thing as "almond butter."
Almond *butter* is the food that's appropriate for IBS diets (as long as you don't overdo). It's like peanut butter, but obviously made of almonds instead. Almond butter is not sweetened.
There probably shouldn't be any confusion about this, since you don't go to the same part of the grocery store to get it. The best almond butter (IMO) is the kind you grind up at the time of purchase at the health food store.
I guess saying "paste" as a descriptor was just an unfortunate choice of words in this case.
