This seems to be my worst trigger lately! It's like my body thinks its going to sleep for the night, so it starts to shut down and digest my food. THen I wake up for dinner and I eat anything and I will get an attack. Does this happen to anyone? I took a 3 hour nap today and have been feeling sick all night! UG!

For me sleep makes me feel better (unless I have already slept too much, but then I mostly get a headache). I think the only problem would be going to bed with a really full stomach. I feel the best if I sit down and take it easy and relax for 5-10 minutes after I finish a meal and then stay mildly active doing things like working at the computer or cleaning up in the kitchen or stuff like that for a while. But I can't remember ever reacting from waking up and going straight for dinner. (I think that happens pretty often as I have always been prone to taking naps in the late afternoon or early evening.) At least not while being pretty stable...

Maybe someone else has a different experience of this.

A theory could of course be that as the processes in your body slow down while you sleep so does the digestion, and then maybe it gets sort of chocked if you wake up and go straight to having dinner. If you have slept for a while and it's been a while since you last ate it could be that it's similar to how you would feel in the morning. I'd think it would be worse the heavier the meal is but I think it seems weird that you can't seem to eat anything...

This happens to me also. Sometimes drinking room temperature water and not moving too much until you re-adjust to being awake helps. I basically gave up taking naps because of the disruption with the rest of the day.

Um, actually, I notice the opposite in my system (of course that means just that -- my system, others' may be different)

When I wake up from a nap or in the morning, I am hungry. Always. My stomach sometimes even makes the "I'm hungry" sounds...

I do have to be careful what I eat in the morning, but after naps, I'm usually fine eating things other than oatmeal (which I eat in the morning)...

I have major problems with naps but overnight sleeping makes me feel better. I am at my best first thing in the morning and the worst is after a late nap. I need to drink fennel tea right away. I never nap if I have plans in the evening.

Yes I get this too. I find that twenty minutes or less of a nap is much better for me. If i do take a long one, I eat very lightly that night.

Yes! Naps *always* upset my stomach, without fail. I'm not sure why, because a full night's sleep helps immensely. But I invariably wake up from a nap with a gurgling, strange-feeling stomach that doesn't settle for hours. I never nap because of this.

Funny, I always feel better after a short nap if I am ffeling a little unstable for some reason. I guess it's another on eo fthos individual things that this silly syndrome is known for.
