Thank you soo much...I am in college and having a hard time with this. I have had the dysfunction since I was a little one..around 7 it came, and I just found out recently what it is and am mortified how I have just been coping with it...so, if you or anyone had advice, I am willing to do anything. I am seeing a specialist and am just trying to get around the dorm food and stress. Thank you for your support

Hi Time and welcome to the boards.

Have you been properly diagnosed by a doctor, and did he or she run a variety of tests before making the diagnosis? Are you a D, C, or A? That will help us give you advice on your ibs.

D=Diarhea
C=Constipation
A=Vary between both D and C

Read all the guidelines here on the boards. And Heather has 2 great books. One is "IBS: The First Year", and the other is "Eating For IBS". It's got all kinds of great recipes.

Welcome. Read all you can on the IBS diet and supplements, soluble fiber, insoluble fiber, etc. on this website (on the left on the home page). Then if you are wondering about something specific, go to the "message boards", "search", type in what you are wondering about (for example, apples), "click all posts" on the bottom, and anything anyone has ever discussed about apples will come up! This can be very time consuming though...Heather's books make it all very concise and explicit. Don't hesitate to spend the money on buying them. They are truly worth it. (I only have one and learned the rest from this site.) Good luck.

I am pretty much a C and have tons of gas and the such..fun stuff! I just wish as a kid we would have know, it would have helped all of us!
Anyway, yes, I have been diagnosed, but after some horrible D boughts, and incredible pain and nearly had me passing out, I am seeing a GI specialist..any news of anything is much appreciated!
