I've been having alot of trouble with gas lately, the intestinal kind. My tummy gets all distended and active and cramps at times too.
Anyone have any good remedies?? I know that most of the OTC "anti-gas" meds only help with more upper GI-type gas.
This doesn't happen to me everyday so it could very well be something I'm eating. I haven't made a connection yet though. I also take Metamucil every a.m. Could be that too I suppose.
Any help is appreciated!!

Have you tried Heather's fennel tea, yet? It's very helpful for gas and bloating.
If you're concerned that the Metamucil is the culprit, try the Acacia fiber instead. It works wonders for me and it actually works out to be less expensive than other fiber supplements.

Metamucil always used to give me gas. Try the acacia! The hypnosis CDs have done wonders for my gas, too.

Is the gas lower?...I mean really low. I sometimes get spasms at my bottom like I am moving my bowels (but not). My stomach used to huff and puff and feel like air pockets. Is that you?

Enter the following in to Google
METAMUCIL GAS site:helpforibs.com
You will get a large number of links on this message board that talk about metamucil and gas. In particular look at this web page that says Quote:
If you're at all prone to bloating or gas (and many folks with IBS are), please avoid both psyllium and inulin (the main ingredients in Metamucil, Konsyl, Fybogel, and FiberChoice), which can seriously worsen these problems in some people with IBS.

Thanks for the great suggestions!
Yes, my gas has been very low in my abdomen and it just feels like major bubbles in there. It's usually at its worst late afternoon/evening.
I've been taking Metamucil for many months now so if I was going to be "used" to it I would be by now. I think I'll try a different supplement and order some fennel tea!
