A nautralistic gastro. Dr. told me it is the casein and protein that gives me discomfort- so- that goat cheese would be much better- I have tried it - and it is better- no amount of lactase pills ever helped me-Cause It isn't the lactase so he says. Anyone else ever eat this- and how do you do w/ it??????? thanks so much.

Um, I am not lactose intollerant, but I do tolerate goat and sheep milk cheese much bettern than cows. Those milk products are just easier on your tummy, take less time to be digested

Goat milk is less fatty too, so it could have been the fat content in your other cheese that was bothering you.

This is an interesting recommendation. Casein is a protein and it is found in most milks. There are a number of different kinds of casein proteins.

Goat's milk does contain casein but it contains less casein of a specific kind than cow's milk. Goat's milk contains less alpha-s1 casein (15% for goats versus 39% for cows) but more alpha-s2 casein (21% for goats versus 10% for cows) and more beta- casein (48% for goats versus 35% for cows) than cow's milk. The amount of kappa-casein in goat's milk (15%) is nearly the same as that in cow's milk

Alpha-s1 casein is known to be an allergenic protein although I understand it is a rather rare allergy. Have you ever been tested for casein allergy?
