Does anyone have IBS & fructose intolerance, or know something about which foods are safe for both, or foods they have found to be safe for both; which foods are major problems for them... just anything would be helpful!! I'm sort of getting sick of oatmeal... lol

I've already ruled out a few... but wow, is it a long process... And you've all been there. Don't you just love what each of us has in common... what a wonderful trait (disorder)! j/k

Hi,

Try doing a search for "fructose"; that should give you some good ideas about what is and isn't safe. Fructose will mainly be found in fruits (it is fruit sugar), but you'll also need to avoid foods that contain corn syrup and possibly glucose syrup.

For me, bringing breakfast cereals back into my diet caused problems. 12 hours after eating a bowl of Rice Krispies I was really bloated and full of gas. Using honey, or a cereal which has honey in the ingredients, has the same effect. Even supermarket corn flakes caused some problems, but not quite as bad.

I recently bought some corn flakes from the local health food shop. So far, I've been OK, but I only had them for the first time yesterday.

I'd be interested to know which foods you have already ruled out.

Cheers.

Ian
